Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Rob Elliot hasn’t played a Premier League game all season for Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United.

Rob Elliot is keen to stay for one last season at Newcastle United despite being told he is free to leave this summer, according to the Chronicle.
Elliot moved to St James’ Park from Charlton Athletic all the way back in 2011 but he has made just 55 league appearances in that time, often providing back up for the likes of Karl Darlow and Martin Dubravka.
The Republic of Ireland international impressed in the Premier League at the start of last season but suffered a serious injury midway through 2017/18 and has since fallen to third in the pecking order.
He hasn’t played a single game in all competitions in the current campaign.

Though The Chronicle reports that Elliot wants to remain on Tyneside despite the fact that Newcastle have told him he has no future at the club. It is claimed that Rafa Benitez is unlikely to hand the veteran shot-stopper a re-call, despite the fact that Dubravka hasn’t been at his best of late.
The four-cap international will be a free agent in the summer of 2020 but it seems he is content with a supporting role at Newcastle as things stand.
