Christian Eriksen is facing an uncertain future, with Tottenham Hotspur set to face a challenge from Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur would always have been fully aware that their star players could be tempted by the glitz and glamour on offer elsewhere as long as trophies in north London remain out of their reach.

And it seems that Christian Eriksen’s future could be giving Spurs fans sleepless nights over the next few months.

According to the Independent, the Danish international is stalling on a new deal despite being offered around £250,000. It is understood that Eriksen, at the age of 26 and heading into his prime, harbours dreams of playing for one of Europe’s major clubs, preferably one in Spain.

Fortunately for him, Real Madrid are very interested.

The Independent adds that Los Blancos are preparing a big-money overhaul of a stumbling squad and are planning to offer £100 million for the former Ajax play-maker Eriksen, who will be out of contract in 2020.

It is no secret that the current champions of Europe are also big fans of Eden Hazard, but they feel that Spurs are more likely to sell than Chelsea. The report adds that Eriksen would likely stay in North London unless he is offered a move to either Madrid or Barcelona.

Interestingly, Real are planning to sell a number of players to make room for Eriksen with Isco, who has been heavily linked with Spurs in recent years, facing an uncertain future.
