The trail had grown cold linking Bolton Wanderers’ Mark Beevers with Scottish Premiership giants Rangers but he could still swap the Macron for Ibrox.

The early signs look good for the future of Rangers’ defence.
Barring a couple of erros in the thrilling draw with Motherwell, Steven Gerrard’s side look more solid than they’ve ever been since returning to the top flight in 2016 with new signings Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic forming a promising partnership.
But Rangers are still a little light at the back. Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso left while Gerrard seems to see Ross McCrorie as a midfielder rather than a centre-back, which explains why the former Liverpool skipper is still hoping to bring in one new central defender before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Rangers have been linked with Bolton Wanderers’ Mark Beevers for over a month now though the trail has grown cold of late. The Daily Star, however, claims that the Scottish Premiership giants are still hopeful that the 28-year-old can be lured to Glasgow with a new assault on the cards in the coming days.

It is reported that Gerrard has made Beevers his top target after missing out on Millwall’s Jake Cooper and Bournemouth youngster Jack Simpson.
Rangers face a tough task, however, as Bolton boss Phil Parkinson is unlikely to let Beevers go without a fight. The 28-year-old has started all five of the Trotters’ Championship games in 2018/19, winning three of those.
