Hibernian’s John McGinn is reportedly an ambitious transfer target for Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

It is understood that new Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been alerted to the availability of the Hibernian talisman, who has just one year remaining on his contract at Easter Road.

Rangers have been scouting McGinn for a number of months, including in the Edinburgh derby defeat to Hearts on Wednesday, and it is understood that he was a target even before Gerrard was appointed as Graeme Murty’s replacement a week ago.
Sealing a deal to bring the dynamic and energetic McGinn to Ibrox could be easier said than done.
The Daily Record adds that Hibernian want around £5 million despite the fact McGinn will be a free agent in a years’ time. And, while Celtic have been linked, there are also a number of clubs willing to offer him a chance in the Premier League.

The report claims that West Ham manager David Moyes, who wanted McGinn when he was at Sunderland, is still keen while the Sun stated recently that Brighton and Bournemouth were preparing bids of around £3 million.
The last time Rangers spent £5 million or more on a player was back in 2005 when they re-signed Barry Ferguson from Blackburn Rovers.
