Birmingham City forward Greg Stewart is reportedly in a tug of war between Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers and Aberdeen.

Rangers will be able to trump any offer Aberdeen make to sign Greg Stewart this summer, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The forward’s future has been the subject of plenty of speculation with just two months left on his contract at Birmingham City with two of Scotland’s biggest clubs reported to be particularly interested.

The Express claimed recently that Rangers are ‘closing in’ on a deal to bring Stewart to Ibrox on a free transfer.

However, Steven Gerrard’s side will face competition from Aberdeen.

The former Dundee forward is currently on loan at Pittodrie and Dons boss Derek McInnes has already confirmed his intention to sign Stewart on a permanent basis, as reported by the Press and Journal.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on January 24, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

But Rangers have a rather substantial advantage. The Birmingham Mail claims that the Ibrox giants have the financial firepower to blow Aberdeen out of the water this summer with the 29-year-old likely to earn far larger wages in Glasgow than he would get at Pittodrie.

Stewart, a skilful and versatile forward, has scored nine goals and produced ten assists this season, although most of those came during an impressive loan spell at Kilmarnock between August and January.

He moved to St Andrews three years ago for £500,000 (BBC).
