Jak Alnwick is reportedly frustrated at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers but has been priced out of a move to League One Shrewsbury Town.
The writing was on the wall for Jak Alnwick as soon as former Ibrox hero Allan McGregor returned to Rangers on a free transfer from Hull City.
Alnwick had struggled for regular game-time anyway since arriving in Scotland from Port Vale in January of last year, making just seven Scottish Premiership starts with all but one of those coming when regular number one Wes Foderingham was absent through injury.
The Express claimed that the former Newcastle United youngster was keen to end his spell on the Ibrox bench. But it remains to be seen whether he will get his wish.
The Mail reported that Shrewsbury Town were keen to offer Alnwick an escape route this summer. The beaten League One play-off finalists need a new number one, having seen Dean Henderson’s loan spell from Manchester United come to an end and Craig McGillivray join Portsmouth.
The Sun, then, report that Alnwick is set to stay at Rangers for now but it would still be a surprise if he was at Ibrox when the transfer window slammed shut in August.
As it stands, he will be third choice behind McGregor and Foderingham at Rangers.
