Dominic Solanke is unlikely to get regular Premier League minutes for Liverpool and would benefit from joining Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard in the dug out during the Pre-Season Friendly between Rangers and Bury at Ibrox Stadium on July 6, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

It has been a busy summer for Rangers with Steven Gerrard overhauling a squad that disappointed under Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha. And expect more business to be done on deadline day before the 12am cut-off point.

Joe Worrall is expected to arrive on loan from Nottingham Forest while a £2 million deal for Osijek winger Eros Grezda is also understood to be nearing completion.

And according to the Daily Star (31 August, page 42), Gerrard is still hopeful of bringing Dominic Solanke to Ibrox, too.

The Scottish Sun claimed in May that Solanke was one of Gerrard’s first-choice targets when he took over at Rangers. But the Glasgow giants have signed other strikers since then with Kyle Lafferty and Umar Sadiq arriving from Hearts and Roma respectively.

Nonetheless, it seems that Solanke is still on Gerrard’s wishlist. The one-time England international is unlikely to feature regularly at Liverpool, particularly thanks to the return of Daniel Sturridge, and a loan move away from Anfield could be the right decision.

Although with the future of Divock Origi also uncertain and Liverpool unlikely to get rid of both back-up strikers, Rangers could be set for a tense wait.
