Scottish Premiership giants Rangers could reportedly lose young winger Kai Kennedy to Serie A powerhouses Roma.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is seen during the Scottish Premier League match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on May 05, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers are facing a huge fight to hang on to Kai Kennedy with none other than Serie A giants Roma looking to lure the teenager to Italy, according to the Daily Record.

Two years ago, The Gers lost the dazzling young midfielder Billy Gilmour to Chelsea. And, just last month, the Record claimed that Champions of Europe Liverpool were hoping to raid Ibrox for Josh McPake.

Now, it’s Kennedy who is catching the eye.

A young left-winger, Kennedy is a hugely promising talent who has exploded onto the scene for Rangers at youth level in recent months. Skilful and direct, he shone as the Glasgow giants beat Roma in the Al Kass International Cup in Qatar earlier in the year.

And it is not just Rangers who have been left astounded by his progress. Roma too obviously think there is a huge talent at Ibrox having watched him first hand and they want to take him to the Stadio Olimpico, just a month after they too were linked with McPake.

Kennedy has a contract until 2021, meaning Rangers hold all the cards at the moment. But after seeing Gilmour walk away in the summer of 2017, Steven Gerrard and co will be desperate to avoid history repeating itself.

Perhaps now is the time to open talks about an even longer deal.
