Jordan Rossiter has been linked with a move away from Ibrox with League One leaders Wigan keen, but will Scottish Premiership giants Rangers let him go?
The future looks bleak for Jordan Rossiter at Rangers.
The Glasgow giants looked to have pulled off a real coup when they landed a player once tipped to be the new Steven Gerrard after his Liverpool contract expired in the summer of 2016.
However an unrelenting injury nightmare has limited Rossiter to just 10 appearances for Rangers’ first-team. And with the Ibrox club adding to an increasingly long list of central midfielders during the last two transfer windows, it was little surprise to learn that the 20-year-old could be on his way.
Latics boss Paul Cook, as a lifelong Liverpool fan, has been a keen admirer of Rossiter for some time and he is hoping to sign the tenacious midfielder on a bargain deal if Rangers are willing to let him go.
And the Daily Record adds that Rangers face a real dilemma.
It is understood that they would rather not let one of the most promising midfielders in British football depart after just 18 months in Glasgow. But the report adds that they understand Rossiter is desperate for more game-time and a move away could be for the best.
If Rossiter does indeed depart before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, Rangers fans will be wondering what might have been if the youngster’s body had not failed him time and again.
