Lee Hodson spent the 2018/19 on loan at Scottish Premiership outfit St Mirren from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
St Mirren have opened talks with Lee Hodson as they look to sign the Rangers outcast on a permanent basis, according to the Daily Record.
Hodson joined Rangers from MK Dons in the summer of 2016 during Mark Warburton’s time in charge at Ibrox but the Northern Ireland international has never really established himself as a first-team player, largely thanks to the exceptional form of James Tavernier at right-back.
As a result, Hodson was sent on loan to St Mirren last summer and he impressed in Paisley with his versatility and work rate making him an immediate fans’ favourite.
And with his Rangers contract set to expire in a few weeks’ time, the Daily Record claims that the 27-year-old is in line for a permanent stay at the Simple Digital Arena.
Buddies boss Oran Kearney has made Hodson one of his top summer targets and the club have already entered negotiations ahead of what would be a popular and affordable signing.
The former Watford defender admitted recently that he would ‘definitely consider’ staying at St Mirren, lauding the spirit in the dressing room.
