Uwe Hunemeier is set to leave Premier League Brighton when his contract expires and Queens Park Rangers want him in the Championship.

Queens Park Rangers will need defensive reinforcements this summer with Nedum Onuoha, James Perch and Jack Robinson all set to leave when their contracts expire.

Like the QPR trio, Hunemeier will become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of this season and has indicated that he would be keen to return to Germany, where he played for Paderborn, Energie Cottbus and Borussia Dortmund’s second string before joining Brighton in 2015.
But West London Sport claim that QPR will attempt to lure the 32-year-old to Loftus Road instead as they look for cheap additions to strengthen their squad.

Hunemeier won promotion from the Championship with Brighton last season but has struggled for game time in 2017/18. His only Premier League appearance came from the bench against Everton in October, with Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk established as The Seagulls’ first-choice centre-back pairing.
It will be interesting to see whether Hunemeier would be tempted by a move to Loftus Road, and the possibility of more regular first-team football after two seasons as a back-up option at The Amex Stadium.
