Alberto Redondo could swap La Liga for the Championship with reports claiming Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers want the left-back.
Queens Park Rangers and Charlton Athletic have both held talks with former Getafe left-back Alberto Redondo, according to FootMercato.
The 22-year-old was part of a Getafe team who stunned the entirety of Spain by securing fifth place in La Liga last season, finishing in the Europa League places. If it wasn’t for a few disappointing performances in the spring, the Madrid-based minnows could have even been gearing up for a first ever Champions League campaign.
But Redondo will not be sticking around to play European football at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. The academy graduate is a free agent with his contract expiring at the start of July, FootMercato claiming that Redondo rejected the chance to extend his stay at Getafe.
French duo St Etienne and Lens were apparently interested, though a move to England is on the cards with London duo QPR and Charlton both holding talks of late.
A move to Loftus Road could see Redondo replace Jake Bidwell, who was released by QPR earlier in the summer before joining Championship rivals Swansea City.
Should Redondo choose Charlton, however, he would compete with Ben Purrington, who joined the Addicks permanently this month after an impressive loan spell from Rotherham United.
