Unai Emery handed Nkunku six Ligue 1 starts last season and the Paris Saint-Germain ace could reunite with the Spanish coach in the Premier League.

Paris Saint-Germain youngster Christopher Nkunku could be on his way to England in the January transfer window.

The Mail (11 January, page 85) claimed that Newcastle United were plotting a move to sign the 21-year-old Frenchman but they are not the only Premier League side understood to be interested.

France Football have reported on Thursday that Arsenal have expressed an interest in bringing Nkunku to the Emirates on loan until the end of the season.

The report adds that the North London giants have been in contact with PSG and the France U21 international is interested in reuniting with his former coach Unai Emery.

The former Sevilla manager made Nkunku something of a key player at the Parc des Princes in the second half of last season, with the gifted midfielder scoring four goals in six Ligue 1 starts.

Funds are tight for Arsenal this month, with the club only able to secure temporary signings, something that appears to have scuppered a deal for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez; although it is understood that any move for Nkunku would contain the option to land him permanently in the summer.
