Everton are keen to keep Gueye in the Premier League but Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly desperate to sign him.
There is another chapter in the Idrissa Gana Gueye transfer saga.
According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain made a £22 million bid for Everton’s coveted defensive midfielder on Monday.
It is no secret that PSG are crying out for a new addition in the centre of the park with contract rebel Adrien Rabiot frozen out, Lassana Diarra expected to retire and Marco Verratti suffering an ankle injury in Saturday’s record-equalling 9-0 thrashing of Guingamp.
And Gueye is allegedly high on PSG’s wish list alongside the Zenit St Petersburg powerhouse Leandro Paredes.
The Mirror, however, has claimed that Everton are demanding £40 million for the former Aston Villa and Lille favourite, meaning PSG’s £22 million bid is unlikely to be anywhere near enough.
It seems that Gueye is keen on a move to the Parc des Princes though. Le Parisien claimed yesterday that the 29-year-old has already said yes to a contract with the Ligue 1 champions and his wages have also been agreed.
Everton will be keen to keep hold of Gueye until the end of the season, however, as it is notoriously difficult to sign players in January.
