Championship high-flyers Bristol City face a challenge holding onto Aden Flint with Premier League strugglers West Brom very interested.

The January transfer window looked like a lifeline for a West Brom side who look set for a serious battle against relegation.
But the Baggies’ hopes of reinforcing a squad lacking in attacking quality, creativity and pace have been somewhat crushed by the grip of Financial Fair Play.

Because it is understood that Bristol City value their talismanic Aden Flint at £12 million; a fee that West Brom are unlikely to pay right now.
It is understood that Baggies’ technical director Nicky Hammond has watched the 6ft 7ins Flint on a number of occasions recently, but the Robins are determined to keep hold of him with Lee Johnson’s side in with a genuine chance of earning a place in the Championship play-offs.
As such, it appears that West Brom have turned their attention to a low-cost option, with Zamalek’s Egyptian international Ali Gabr likely to cost a comparatively measly £1.5 million.

Flint, then, looks like he is simply out of West Brom’s price range.
Unless, of course, they accept defeat and let Jonny Evans leave for either Arsenal or Manchester City in the coming days.
