Diogo Goncalves is reportedly on his way out of Nottingham Forest but does Gil Dias have a future in the Championship under Aitor Karanka?

Nottingham Forest fans will have been hoping that they would follow in Wolves’ footsteps when a trio of fleet-footed Portuguese starlets arrived at the City Ground with the help of super-agent Jorge Mendes.
But while £13 million record signing Joao Carvalho has contributed three goals and six assists in a promising debut campaign, Diogo Goncalves and Gil Dias have not quite lived up to expectations.
21-year-old Goncalves has made just one Championship start and hasn’t been seen in Forest colours since the EFL Cup defeat to Burton Albion in October. As a result, A Bola is reporting that he is set to return to parent club Benfica this month.
But what does the immediate future hold for Dias at the City Ground?

Well, in contrast to Goncalves, the Monaco-owned starlet has remained in Aitor Karanka’s plans and shown flashes of his undoubted potential on occasions. Dias was particularly impressive in the 3-1 EFL Cup victory against Newcastle United five months ago, capping a Man of the Match performance with a sublime chipped goal in stoppage time.
As a result, the Nottingham Post reports that Dias is likely to be kept on as things stand – though he will have to step up between now and May if he is to secure a permanent move to the East Midlands.
