Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion reportedly want to sign Rangers’ Scottish Premiership captain James Tavernier in the January transfer window.
Even at the age of 38, Bruno Saltor still boasts that Premier League quality.
The veteran Spaniard made his first appearance since August in Brighton’s 1-0 win against West Ham on Friday, helping Chris Hughton’s side seal a much-needed win and a well-deserved clean sheet.
And, speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Hughton indicated that Bruno is still a key part of his plans.
“I just thought after the last couple of games that we needed Bruno’s composure on the ball.”
Sky have added on Tuesday that Brighton have not ruled out offering the former Valencia man a new contract with his current deal expiring at the end of the season. And fans of Rangers will certainly be watching the situation closely.
Because, as the report claims, Brighton are interested in signing Rangers skipper James Tavernier in January, having expressed an interest in the summer.
Tavernier is arguably the most impressive right-back in Scottish football, having scored six times and assisted eight more already in 2018/19.
But with Martin Montoya and Ezequiel Schelotto already at The Amex, there would be little need for Tavernier if Bruno committed his immediate future to the club until 2020.
So Rangers supporters will be hoping that Bruno can cement his place in the starting XI over the next few months.
