Celtic loanee Oliver Burke played just 46 mins of Championship football under Darren Moore, but he has now been sacked by West Bromwich Albion.
West Bromwich Albion are increasingly unlikely to sell Oliver Burke to Celtic this summer, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
A club record £15 million signing from RB Leipzig in 2017 (Express and Star), Burke really struggled in the first half of the season and clearly failed to convince manager Darren Moore, who handed him just 46 minutes of Championship football.
Burke has impressed since being handed a fresh start at Celtic, however, scoring four times in six Scottish Premiership starts as he adapts to a new centre-forward role.
The Birmingham Mail reports that Celtic are hoping to negotiate a permanent deal for the former Nottingham Forest winger, although they have no ‘option to buy’ in his contract.
Although the managerial uncertainty at The Hawthorns means West Brom are very unlikely to let Burke stay north of the border.
Moore was sacked last Saturday in controversial fashion, meaning Burke could be offered a second chance by whoever is hired to replace the club legend in the Baggies’ dugout.
“It is out of my hands at the minute because I am a West Brom player so we have to see what happens in the summer. I am not too sure at the minute how it really stands. It almost changes everything again with a new manager coming in,” Burke said earlier in the week.
It seems he was spot on. He will not be going anywhere for now.
