Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with Valencia’s Joao Cancelo but so have Serie A duo Inter Milan and Juventus.

Wolverhampton is looking increasingly like the destination for Joao Cancelo this summer.

The Portuguese right-back is the latest Jorge Mendes client linked with a big-money move to Molineux with the Mail crediting the Premier League newcomers with an interest in the 24-year-old, who is understood to be valued at £35 million.

Wolves faced one of their toughest tests yet in the transfer market, however. Cancelo shone on loan at Inter Milan from La Liga giants Valencia last season and had been tipped to join the Serie A giants on a permanent deal, while Italian rivals Juventus have also been linked.

But Sky Italia have since reported that Juve, who perhaps see Cancelo as a replacement for the Arsenal-bound Stephan Licthsteiner, have failed to agree terms with the versatile full-back.

And reports in Corriero dello Sport are now suggesting that Cancelo will not be returning to Inter this summer, despite the club’s qualification for the Champions League easing fears about a Financial Fair Play breach.

It is understood that Inter want Chelsea’s Italian international Davide Zappacosta as a replacement for the fleet-footed Iberian ace.

Suddenly, then, a club-record move to Wolves is perhaps looking more likely than it ever has.
