Is long-running Wolverhampton Wanderers target Andre Silva set to move to the Premier League this summer? He faces an uncertain future at AC Milan.

Andre Silva of AC Milan looks on during UEFA Europa League Round of 32 match between AC Milan and Ludogorets Razgrad at the San Siro on February 22, 2018 in Milan, Italy.

Six months after he was first linked with that stunning switch to Wolverhampton Wanderers, is there a chance that Andre Silva could still end up at Molineux?

Despite being one of Jorge Mendes’ most high-profile clients, the Portuguese striker’s reputation has taken a beating on the back of his disappointing debut season at AC Milan. Silva arrived for £33 million from FC Porto but quickly went from one of the world’s most exciting strikers to an expensive flop.

He scored just twice in Serie A and, as a result, lost his place in Portugal’s starting XI during the World Cup.

And Silva’s struggles at the San Siro could just have opened the door for Wolves to finally land their man, a striker they were willing to pay £27 million for according to the Sun (May 29, page 50).

Calciomercato is claiming that the Rossineri will let the 22-year-old leave on loan this summer after striking an agreement with the influential Mendes. Milan are unwilling to let Silva go permanently which, considering his age and huge potential, is probably the right decision.

Calciomercato add that Arsenal and Monaco are interested but the ball is now in Wolves’ court, too. Signing Silva on loan would be a low risk deal with potentially massive rewards.

Should he flop like he did in Milan, Wolves will not have wasted £27 million. But, should he rediscover the form that made him Portugal’s number one striker until very recently, Wolves would have a wonderful goal-scorer in their ranks without spending a penny.
