Leeds United are understood to be keen on landing Pedro Chirivella on loan from Liverpool.

Leeds United are understood to be interested in landing Liverpool’s promising young midfielder Pedro Chirivella this summer with Goal reporting that the Whites are one of a number of Championship sides circling.

Chirivella might not be a household name in England despite being a Liverpool player for five years. The 21-year-old has made just one Premier League appearance in that time, a defeat to Swansea in May 2015, and has spent the last two seasons in Holland with Go Ahead Eagles and Willem II.

But he is a player who looks perfect for Marcelo Bielsa, a composed central midfielder with a superb passing range, explaining why he was once compared to Anfield legend Xabi Alonso. If Bielsa is keen to bring in a more possession-based, cultured style to Elland Road, Chirivella fits the bill.

And in a boost to Leeds, Goal is now reporting that Liverpool have decided to loan out the former Spain U20 ace this summer.

Despite impressing in the Eredivisie with Willem II in 2017/18, Chirivella is still well down the pecking order on Merseyside, particularly after the big-money additions of Naby Keita and Fabinho.

So a spell at Leeds could do him the world of good, allowing him to prove for the first time that he is suited to the cut and thrust nature of English football.
