Swansea City defender Federico Fernandez has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Newcastle United this summer.

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has been forced to get creative in his attempts to bring in new additions this summer. The lack of funds being made available to him by owner Mike Ashley means the Spaniard is once again in the market for loans, free-agents and cut-price bargains – which has led him to Federico Fernandez.
According to The Sun, Benitez wants cover at centre-back and has identified Swansea City’s Argentine international as a potential addition.
The report added that Swansea would be willing to sell Fernandez for around £6 million but Benitez was hoping that he would be available on loan. So latest claims from the Northern Echo will be music to the ears of the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss.
The report states that Fernandez is indeed expected to be made available on loan with Swansea aiming to overhaul their squad.

As a result, Newcastle have an excellent chance of signing an experienced Premier League defender without spending a single penny in transfer fees.
The report adds, however, that the Tyneside giants will have to see off competition from Russian outfit Kuban Krasnodar, who are also interested in a defender who has represented Napoli and Getafe while making 32 appearances for Argentina.
