Liverpool need a new goalkeeper and the Premier League outfit reportedly want to sign Thomas Strakosha from Serie A side Lazio this summer.

With Jan Oblak, Jasper Cillessen and Alisson Becker likely to command fees of £50 million and above, Liverpool appear to be scouring the market for more affordable goalkeeping additions.

And it seems that Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha fits the bill. As reported by Cittaceleste at the end of May, Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the 23-year-old Albanian shot-stopper who played every single one of Lazio’s Serie A fixtures in 2017/18.

Tuttomercatoweb even reported that Liverpool were preparing an offer of £26 million for a goalkeeper who has gone from a relative unknown to one of the best in Italian football in just over a year.

Now, claims from Calciomercato give Liverpool a big boost. It is understood that Lazio would be open to selling Strakosha this summer. And, helpfully, they have slapped a price-tag of £26 million, or a very round figure of 30 million euros, on the head of their young number one.

It is understood that Lazio are close to signing the 35-year-old veteran Silvio Proto from Anderlecht, meaning a replacement for Strakosha appears to have been lined up already.

Liverpool will face competition from Bayer Leverkusen, who have just lost Bernd Leno to Arsenal, but the prospect of playing Champions League football at Anfield should sway Strakosha to move to England over Germany.

Leverkusen missed out on a place in Europe’s premiere club competition last season, finishing fifth in the Bundesliga.
