Sabri Lamouchi has turned Forest into Championship contenders but which Premier League teams are interested?
Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi is attracting admiring glances from the Premier League after just over three months in charge of the Championship outfit, according to the Sun (6 October, page 63).
Eyebrows were raised on the banks of the river Trent when Forest sacked club legend Martin O’Neil in June and replaced him, just 20 minutes later, with the little-known Lamouchi.
The former France international midfielder didn’t exactly arrive with a stellar CV, having only coached Rennes, El Jaish and the Ivory Coast, but he has silenced the doubters in style after transforming the perennial underachievers into genuine promotion contenders.
Forest are second in the Championship after 11 games, losing just once, with Lamouchi moulding a misfit side into one of the most organised and ruthless teams in the division.
The Sun claims that at least one Premier League club has been impressed by Lamouchi though Forest won’t be looking to lose a man who is finally making them dream of a top flight return after two decades away.
It remains to be seen who his mystery admirers are. The likes of Marco Silva and Steve Bruce have come under fire with Everton and Newcastle United stuck at the wrong end of the table while, after a 5-1 thrashing at home to Aston Villa, questions are starting to be asked of Norwich City coach Daniel Farke.
Farke’s tactics are looking increasingly naïve but perhaps Lamouchi is the man who could give the Canaries are welcome dose of pragmatism.
