Nottingham Forest have been linked with West Ham United right-back Sam Bryam so is he heading back to the Championship?

It has been over a month now since Nottingham Forest sold Erik Lichaj to Hull City. And, as of yet, the Championship promotion hopefuls have failed to find a replacement for their long-serving American right-back.
Nottingham Forest have aced the transfer market, bringing in reinforcements in pretty much every key position. But right-back remains something of a problem with Tendayi Darikwa, who did not enjoy a convincing debut season at the City Ground, now the club’s only natural in the role.
Although manager Aitor Karanka hopes that will change very soon.
As reported by the Nottingham Post, the former Middlesbrough boss has confirmed that he wanted a new right-back to be signed and sealed before the weekend, which means he will surely attempt to complete a deal on Friday.
It is reported that West Ham’s Sam Byram, who has been linked for the last few weeks, remains Forest’s primary transfer target. The East Midlands outfit are willing to sign him now or loan him for the season with a view to a permanent deal.

The report adds that Forest have identified Bristol Rovers’ 24-year-old Welsh international Tom Lockyer (above) as a back-up option. But, given that Byram appears to be behind Ryan Fredericks and Pablo Zabaleta in the West Ham pecking order, there should be no real obstacle to the deal being done.
But could Byram be a Forest player by the time today is finished?
