Jamie Ward and Zach Clough are unlikely to play a part in Nottingham Forest’s Championship promotion challenge.
Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka has made it clear that he wants to trim down his bloated squad in the January transfer window.
And the former Middlesbrough boss has made a good start, sending forgotten winger Gboly Ariyibi to Motherwell while Greek international Panagiotis Tachtisidis has left without playing a game, joining Italian outfit Lecce.
Diogo Goncalves is expected to bid farewell too, the Nottingham Post claiming that he will return to parent club Benfica after just one Championship start.
But who else is on their way out of the City Ground? Well, Jamie Ward and Zach Clough are unlikely to have any future in the East Midlands.
The attacking duo are clearly not in Karanka’s plans, having spent the first half of 2018/19 on loan at Charlton Athletic and Rochdale respectively.
With their short-term spells having come to an end at the start of January, however, Ward and Clough have returned to Forest. And The Post is claiming that their future’s are in ‘severe doubt’ with the former European champions keen to find them a new club.
32-year-old Ward hasn’t played a league game since Karanka replaced Mark Warburton at Nottingham Forest while Clough has underwhelmed since he arrived from Bolton for £3 million two years ago.
