Goalkeeper Jordan Smith has barely featured for Nottingham Forest this season but is he leaving the City Ground?

Jordan Smith has perhaps been the Nottingham Forest player most negatively affected by the appointment of Aitor Karanka at the start of 2018.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper had established himself as the club’s number one during the reign of Mark Warburton. And while Smith was far from perfect, making a couple of high-profile errors, he seemed to have the potential to remain between the sticks for years to come.
Karanka, however, thought differently. Since the start of the year, the former Middlesbrough manager has signed three goalkeepers – Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele and the now departed Stefanos Kapino – and Smith has been forced well down the pecking order.
As a result, the Nottingham Post reports that a decision over his future is likely to be made in January, with a loan move away from the City Ground a possibility.

Smith has made just one appearance all season and that hardly went to plan, as he was sent off half an hour into August’s EFL Cup penalty shoot-out win against Bury. He has not been included in a single match-day squad for a Championship game in the last three months.
The Post adds that 20-year-old midfielder Ryan Yates, who is struggling for opportunities, is also expected to leave on a temporary basis in the New Year.
