Could Arvin Appiah be the new Jadon Sancho? There are reportedly clubs in Germany looking at Forest’s Championship winger.

Jadon Sancho has been a roaring success since he rocked up at Borussia Dortmund at the age of 17 without a single senior appearance under his belt. And it seems that, inspired by the winger’s success in yellow and black, other Bundesliga clubs are scouring the English market for similar bargains.

That is according to The Independent anyway, who claim that clubs from Germany’s top tier are stepping up their pursuit of a number of the UK’s top talents.

Bayern Munich have made no secret of their desire to sign Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, offering £35 million for a player few had heard of before August (Guardian), while Sky claims that Dortmund, Stuttgart and RB Leipzig want Fulham’s 18-year-old midfielder Matt O’Riley.

And The Independent believe that Nottingham Forest face a battle, too, with Arvin Appiah’s potential being recognised over in Germany.

The 18-year-old has made his breakthrough at the City Ground this season, scoring on his debut against Burton Albion in the EFL Cup, but he has played just six minutes of Championship football so far.

Now, the Nottingham Post claimed that Forest were set to tie Appiah down to a new contract earlier this month but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. But with the sharks circling, they should perhaps be stepping up their attempts to secure his future.
