Nottingham Forest are on the verge of signing Rafa Mir from Wolverhampton Wanderers with the Spanish striker set to undergo a medical at the City Ground within the next 24 hours, as reported by the Nottingham Post.

Forest fans have been clamouring for a new centre-forward all summer with Lewis Grabban likely to be their only senior striker heading into next season as things stand.

And the supporters can now rest easy, safe in the knowledge that a deal for Mir is now very close to being completed.

A former Valencia wonderkid who scored goals for fun with Los Che at youth level, Wolves appeared to have pulled off a major coup when they signed the Spain U21 star in January 2018 for £1.7 million – beating Real Madrid to his signature.(Super Deporte).

But Mir struggled to live up to such lofty expectations and, after just four games for Wolves, found himself back in Spain on loan at Las Palmas.

Rafa Mir of Spain looks on prior to the 2019 UEFA Under 21 qualifier match between Spain U21 and Albania U21 at Nuevo Arcangel Stadium on September 6, 2018 in Cordoba, Spain.

And with Forest coach Sabri Lamouchi hoping to make a series of new signings before Saturday’s Championship opener against West Bromwich Albion, the Post believes that Mir could become the club’s seventh summer signing by the end of Tuesday.

At 22, it is high-time Mir proved himself in senior football after making his name at reserve level for club and country. And reports of his impending departure will only add fuel to the speculation suggesting that Patrick Cutrone is on his way to Wolves from AC Milan.
