Sammy Ameobi appears to be heading back to the Championship with Martin O’Neill’s Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest are on the brink of signing Sammy Ameobi on a free transfer, according to the Nottingham Post.
The 27-year-old winger is on the lookout for a new club after his two-year spell at Bolton Wanderers came to an end recently. Ameobi was released after the cash-strapped Trotters were relegated back to League One.
But the former Newcastle United winger could be offered the chance to stay in the Championship with Nottingham Forest looking to swoop for a player they have been linked with since 2017.
MyLondon claimed back then that Forest were keen to snap up Ameobi when his Newcastle career came to an end and, although they missed out at the time, they could finally get their man two years on.

The former England U21 international, who scored four goals for Bolton last season, would be Nottingham Forest’s first signing of what promises to be a busy summer with Martin O’Neill looking to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion.
And while his arrival appears a little underwhelming, Ameobi is a proven Championship performer who, on his day, can be unplayable in the second tier.
