Louis Walsh could leave League One for the Championship with the Tykes starlet on trial at Martin O’Neill’s Nottingham Forest.

Louis Walsh is on trial at Nottingham Forest with Martin O’Neill’s side running the rule over the young winger, as reported by the Nottingham Post.
Walsh was a Barnsley player last season, joining the Tykes in the summer of 2018. And although he failed to make a single first-team appearance for the club, Barnsley’s official website described the jet-heeled wide man in particularly exalted terms.
“With incredible acceleration and terrific technique, the flying winger ghosts past defenders with consummate ease and frequently provides teammates with assists while contributing with goals too,” they said.
Maybe this is why Nottingham Forest are taking a look ahead of a potential deal to bring Walsh to the City Ground when his Barnsley contract expires in July.

The fresh-faced wide man played 76 minutes as Forest’s U23s beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 on Monday, a game in which West Ham United loanee Sam Byram also made his hotly anticipated return from a long spell out injured.
Forest have one of the best academies in the UK, producing the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Ben Osborn and Patrick Bamford in recent years, so Walsh would be in good company if he is handed a contract at the City Ground.
