Report: Nottingham Forest offer deal to Christos Albanis; set to trigger release-clause

Christos Albanis’s fine debut season in the Greek Superleague could reportedly earn him a move to the Championship with Nottingham Forest.

Could Nottingham Forest replace one Greek striker with another this summer?

SDNA reported at the start of May that Apostalos Vellios was ‘finished’ at the City Ground and is likely to be playing his football for Olympiakos next season.

And the same publication is now linking Forest with a 23-year-old attacker who could succeed Vellios in Aitor Karanka’s squad.

It is understood the Championship club are keen on the Apollon Smyrnis striker Christos Albanis and they could move to trigger his release clause this summer, which is understood to be just shy of £500,000.

Albanis has finished his first season in the Greek top flight and scored eight goals in 29 games, including a couple of crucial strikes in the final few weeks of the season as the newly promoted Apollon preserved their Superleague status.

And the report adds that Nottingham Forest are willing to offer him a salary of around £300,000 to tempt Albanis with a move to the City Ground.

Forest’s owner Evangelos Marinakis is also the head honcho at Olympiakos so he will know Albanis well.

It is no surprise that Forest are targeting a striker due to the fact that their top-scorer last season, Kieran Dowell, netted just nine times and has returned to parent club Everton after his season-long loan.
