Karim Ansarifard to Nottingham Forest is back on.

The Iranian striker has been heavily linked with a move to the City Ground since being released by Olympiakos at the end of the summer transfer window. But a move that seemed all-but inevitable is yet to happen with the trail growing cold in recent weeks.

But reports in the Mail claim that Forest could finally see a breakthrough this week.

It is stated that Aitor Karanka’s side are hoping to finally gain clearance on a work permit in the coming days, potentially bringing an end to a transfer saga that has rumbled on now for almost two months.

It seems that work permit issues were the only thing standing in Forest’s way of signing Ansarifard at the start of September.

The 28-year-old’s potential arrival could be a welcome boost to Karanka’s side. Ansarifard is a proven goal-scorer who netted 18 times for Olympiakos during a spell in the Greek Superleague last season.

He also scored for Iran at the World Cup and has 66 caps for his country.
