Sam Byram looks finished in the Premier League with West Ham United but will he be offered a Championship lifeline by Nottingham Forest?

It has been a month now since reports first emerged saying that Sam Byram was set to leave West Ham United for Nottingham Forest. So supporters might have started to worry that a deal that had seemed a formality was not going to happen.
The Nottingham Post reported on Monday that Forest had even identified Bristol Rovers’ Tom Lockyer as an alternative to the former Leeds United favourite with the signing of Byram seemingly in doubt.
One day later, however, everything is looking a little rosier.
The Nottingham Post now claims that Aitor Karanka’s side are hopeful of completing a deal for Byram in the next few days. And it is understood that the 24-year-old is likely to become the eleventh new signing made by Forest during a hugely busy and successful transfer window.

Byram moved to West Ham from Leeds in January 2017 for £2.7 million but has struggled to settle at the London Stadium, albeit not helped by a series of injuries.
And, with the Hammers signing Fulham flyer Ryan Fredericks to provide competition for the veteran Argentine Pablo Zabaleta, it seems there is no space in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad for Byram.
Although after Forest sold Eric Lichaj to Hull City, Byram could walk into Karanka’s XI should he keep himself fit.
