Paulo Sousa has coached QPR, Swansea and Leicester City in the Championship and could reportedly return with Nottingham Forest.
There is a real Iberian twang to the Nottingham Forest dressing room these days with Diego Goncalves, Gil Dias, Joao Carvalho and Tobias Figueiredo all plying their trade at the City Ground.
But could Forest add to their growing Portuguese contingent by hiring an Iberian manager too?
According to Record, Paulo Sousa is in the frame to take over from Aitor Karanka at Nottingham Forest as the East Midland giants aim to end their 20-year exile from the Premier League this season.
Karanka’s highly-anticipated departure was confirmed on Friday and Forest are aiming to make an appointment as soon as possible.
The Sun claimed at the weekend that former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic (below) is their top target while Carlos Carvalhal, who twice led Sheffield Wednesday into the Championship play-offs, is their second choice.
But it seems that Sousa could also be in line for a return to England’s second tier. The 48-year-old has previously coached QPR, Swansea and Leicester City in the second tier, though the last of those jobs was nine years ago.
Sousa is currently without a club, having left Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjian in the Autumn.
