Preston North End’s Callum Robinson is reportedly heading to the Premier League but with Sheffield United rather than Norwich City.

Norwich City offered £6 million for Preston North End forward Callum Robinson but they are set to miss out to fellow Premier League newcomers Sheffield United, according to the Mail.

Norwich finished five points above the Blades in the Championship last season, sealing the title as well as automatic promotion to the top flight. Though Chris Wilder’s tenacious underdogs are set to take some measure of revenge.

After all, Robinson was a target for both clubs after another promising season for Preston in which he scored a career-best 12 goals while establishing himself in the Republic of Ireland national team.

And the one-time Aston Villa youngster, who was let go by three years ago though he really should have been given a chance, is now set to be rewarded with a move to back to the Premier League.

The Mail claims that Norwich offered £6 million but they have been pipped to the post by Sheffield United, who have agreed to pay £7 million with add-ons potentially taking it to £10 million.

Either way, Robinson will become the Steel City side’s new record signing. And Norwich will be hoping that he doesn’t perform too well in red and white.
