Norwich City and Sheffield United are battling to sign Chelsea youngster Kasey Palmer, according to the Sun (30 April, page 50).

The Canaries and the Blades were both officially promoted to the Premier League over the weekend and all that is missing now is figuring out who will win the Championship title with just a single league fixture remaining.

According to the Sun, the top flight-bound duo will soon be set for another battle over the signature of highly-rated midfielder Palmer.

The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan at Bristol City, is keen to move away from Chelsea on a permanent basis this summer after accepting that first-team football is out of his reach at Stamford Bridge.

It is claimed that any deal for Palmer will cost around £4 million, although he would fit Norwich and Sheffield United’s approach of signing young, promising players with a big re-sale value.

The England U21 international had a loan spell at Huddersfield Town in the 2017/18 season but he struggled to make an impression in the first division, playing just four Premier League games under David Wagner.
