Dorukhan Tokoz could reportedly be on his way to the Premier League with Newcastle United after starring in Turkey for Super Lig side Besiktas JK.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Besiktas midfielder Dorukhan Tokoz this summer, according to Hurriyet.

The two-time Turkey international has established himself as one of the Super Lig’s best prospects since joining Besiktas from Eskisehirspor in the summer of 2018, producing three goals and three assists in his debut season for the Istanbul giants.

22-year-old Tokoz, who can play in a variety of midfield positions, is renowned for his ability to win back possession and shoot with power and accuracy from long range.

And Hurriyet believes that Newcastle have been watching him for some time ahead of a potential summer bid. Tokoz could potentially replace Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden or Mo Diame, who have all been linked with a move away from St James’ Park.

Dorukhan was also linked with West Ham last month with Fanatik claiming that The Hammers were preparing an offer for a player valued by Besiktas at £17 million.

It remains to be seen whether Mike Ashley, Newcastle’s much-maligned owner, is willing to give manager Rafa Benitez the funds to bring Tokoz to England.

But, at just 22 and with plenty of potential, Tokoz is the kind of investment that Ashley could be tempted to make.
