Much has been made in recent years of the lack of a prolific number nine at Newcastle United. But Elias Sorensen has at least given supporters something to look forward to, with the 19-year-old emerging as a potential star of the future at St James’ Park.

The Dane has been in prolific form throughout 2018/19 and has scored ten times in eight starts in Premier League 2, 15 in all competitions. And while Sorensen is yet to make his senior debut in Newcastle colours, the striker was called up to first-team training earlier this month.

The Chronicle, however, have reported that The Magpies would consider loaning him out to a Football League club in the New Year. And the Hartlepool Mail, who claim that Sorensen is a target for Pool boss and former Middlesbrough defender Matthew Bates.
