Newcastle United are not alone in their pursuit of Garry Rodrigues. Ligue 1’s Lyon, Serie A’s Fiorentina and La Liga’s Sevilla are keen.

If Newcastle United are hoping to strike it third time lucky and finally lure Garry Rodrigues to St James’ Park this summer, the latest reports might come as something of a concern.
As reported by Gunes, the Magpies failed in a £7 million bid for the Galatasaray winger during the January transfer window, the second time they have made an offer, as the Turkish giants did not want to lose another key player mid-season after seeing Bodou Ndiaye leave for Stoke City.

But they will not be alone. It is understood that a number of big European clubs are also expressing an interest in the Cape Verde winger, who has four goals and six assists in league football this season.
And with the Magpies situated at the wrong end of the Premier League, and with owner Mike Ashley reluctant to spend, what chance would they have of beating Lyon, Fiorentina and Champions League side Sevilla to Rodrigues’ signature.

This would put him within £3 million of Newcastle’s record signing.
And with other enticing destinations emerging for Rodrigues, the Magpies’ hopes of striking a deal may be harder than ever now.
