Vlachomidos is earning rave reviews with SL Benfica and is reportedly wanted by Newcastle United.

Odisseas Vlachomidos has taken his chance with both hands at Benfica. The German goalkeeper moved to the Estadio da Luz from Panathiniakos in the summer and has not waited around to cement his place as the club’s number one.
Benfica are top of the Primeira Liga table with 13 points from 15 and Vlachomidos has been an ever present, keeping three clean sheets already.
According to Record, the 24-year-old is already attracting interest from clubs in some of Europe’s major leagues. It is understood that Bayern Munich have been tracking Vlachomidos since 2011, when he was part of Stuttgart’s youth team.
But a number of Premier League clubs are understood to be keen too, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and, most interestingly, Newcastle United.

The Magpies were one of 18 clubs who sent scouts to watch Vlachomidos in action for Benfica this season despite the fact that the goalkeeping position is arguably the strongest area of Newcastle’s squad, with Martin Dubravka backed up by Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and youngster Freddie Woodman.
Considering that Vlachodimos has a contract until 2023 and a release clause of £54 million, Benfica currently hold all the cards.
