Premier League side Newcastle United were linked with Stefano Sturaro last summer and are reportedly targeting the Serie A champion again.
Stefano Sturaro has quite the CV.
Since moving to Juventus from Genoa in 2014, the Italian midfielder has won Serie A four times, the Coppa Italia four times, the Supercoppa Italiana once and reached the final of the Champions League twice.
But Sturaro’s achievements will be tainted somewhat by the fact that he has not exactly played a leading role. In fact, the 25-year-old’s importance at Juve appears to have diminished by the year, his contribution to a record-breaking seventh straight Scudetto limited to just 12 Serie A appearances; seven of them starts.
It is understood that Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has made an enquiry about his availability and it is not the first time the Magpies have expressed an interest.
Newcastle will face competition again with Calciomercato claiming that Valencia, who wanted to sign Sturaro in January, are still keen. He could even return to former club Genoa as part of the deal that would see talented goalkeeper Mattia Perin join Juventus.
What is clear, however, is that Sturaro needs to leave this summer if he is to get the attention he deserves.
