Newcastle United are reportedly watching winger Josh Murphy of Championship Norwich City, a year after they signed his twin Jacob.
Newcastle United already have one Murphy brother in their ranks. And, by the end of the summer transfer window, they could complete the set.
The Magpies signed exciting England U21 starlet Jacob Murphy from Norwich City last summer, making the winger their most expensive signing of the season with a £12 million price-tag, as reported by Sky Sports.
And, according to the Chronicle, Newcastle have been keeping a close eye on his twin brother Josh.
It is understood that head of recruitment Steve Nickson travelled to the Stadium of Light earlier in April to watch the 23-year-old in action for Norwich during a 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
Rafa Benitez wants to strengthen his options out wide this summer and Josh Murphy, like Jacob last season, has established himself as one of the country’s most promising young widemen at Carrow Road.
He has scored six goals in the Championship this season, including a genuine Goal of the Season contender in the recent 3-1 win against Aston Villa; a game in which he also grabbed an assist and tore Steve Bruce’s defence apart. Interestingly, Nickson went to watch him the very next game.
Jacob has endured a difficult debut season at Newcastle. The Chronicle states that Benitez has high hopes for him but the Magpies’ number seven has started just 11 Premier League games all season, netting one goal and producing one assist.
Maybe the presence of his brother on Tyneside could help him settle.
