Jupiler League giants Anderlecht have been tipped to re-sign Chancel Mbemba from Premier League Newcastle United.

Mike Ashley has insisted that he will back Rafa Benitez in the transfer market this summer and the Newcastle United manager could raise even more funds by selling a number of the club’s fringe players.

And reports in Belgium suggest that Newcastle could kill two birds with one stone.

HLN stated on Wednesday that The Magpies could sell £5 million goalkeeper Matz Sels to Anderlecht next week with talks progressing nicely. The former Gent ‘keeper spent the 2017/18 season at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.

And HLN believe Sels could be joined at Anderlecht by Chancel Mbemba too.

The Chronicle states that Mbemba is one of the players Benitez is keen to cash in on this summer. The Congolose centre-back joined Newcastle from Anderlecht for £8 million in 2015 but he has fallen down the pecking order under Benitez, starting just seven Premier League games last season.

HLN add that Newcastle would accept around €8million altogether for Mbemba and Sels, but Anderlecht are hoping that the Tyneside giants reduce the former’s price-tag in order to make this double deal possible.

Interestingly, HLN believes that Mbemba has already held talks with Standard Liege, who finished one place and three points above Anderlecht last season in second, behind winners Club Brugge.
