Karl Toko Ekambi has been inspirational in Ligue 1 for Angers, reportedly attracting Premier League interest from Newcastle United and Everton.

Angers have a history of producing quality strikers. Jonathan Kodjia left south-west Paris for Bristol City in the summer of 2016 before Famara Diedhiou did the same one year later.

But Karl-Toko Ekambi could be the best of the lot and could earn Angers far more than they made for both Kodjia and Diedhiou.

The Sun reports that Premier League duo Newcastle United and Everton are both interested in the Cameroon international and are weighing up bids of £20 million with the summer transfer scramble set to begin very soon.

Toko Ekbami has been in sensational form for Angers this season, netting 17 goals in 30 Ligue 1 starts. In fact, he has scored almost half of their league total and the club have him to thank as they sit six points clear of the relegation zone with three matches to play.

The Sun adds that Angers are likely to cash in this season amid a realisation that Toko Ekambi is on route to bigger and better things. Whether that takes him to Newcastle or Everton remains to be seen.

The Magpies and the Toffees have both struggled for goals this season. Rafa Benitez’s success has been built largely on a sturdy defence while Everton have not really been able to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku, despite the admirable impact made by Cenk Tosun since his January arrival from Besiktas.

The Sun claims that Brighton are interested, but Toko Ekambi rejected a move to The Amex last summer even though the Seagulls were prepared to quadruple his current wage, according to France Football.
