Premier League duo Newcastle United and Everton are both reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid winger Gelson Martins this month.

After just half a season at Atletico Madrid, Gelson Martins could be on the move again.
AS reported on Tuesday that transfer-chasing Newcastle United want to take the Portuguese international winger to Tyneside for the rest of the campaign and are willing to meet Atleti’s demands for a £3.5 loan million fee.
And it seems that the deal is moving fast.
The Chronicle has now claimed on Wednesday morning that Newcastle are now in talks with 23-year-old Martins, who moved to the Wanda Metropolitano after exercising an option to terminate his Sporting Lisbon contract last summer.
Rafa Benitez will have to fight off competition from Premier League rivals Everton, however. The Chronicle adds that the Merseyside giants are also interested in Martins with head coach Marco Silva apparently keen to link up with his jet-heeled compatriot at Goodison Park.

Martins, like so many big-name signings before him, has struggled to meet the demands of Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid. He has started just one of his eight La Liga appearances.
He showcased his talents at Sporting last season, however, contributing 13 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.
