Could Bas Dost finally be on his way to the Premier League and Newcastle United, four years after that £9million move fell through?

Bas Dost has made a dramatic return to the gossip columns this week.
According to O Jogo, Newcastle United are once again interested in the prolific Dutch centre-forward as his time at Sporting Lisbon seemingly comes to an end.
Dost has scored goals for fun in Portugal since moving to the Estadio Jose Alvalade in the summer of 2016, netting 93 times in 123 games including 23 in all competitions last season.
But with the striker earning a huge wage at a club who are looking to cut back on their spending, O Jogo claims that Dost is on the market for £10 million. And there are two clubs interested – Sevilla and Newcastle.
Now, Newcastle fans will be familiar with the former Wolfsburg and Heerenveen man. Back in 2015, the Mirror claimed that he wanted to join the club with the Magpies on the verge of a £9 million deal.

No move materialised but, four years on, this could be the perfect time for Dost to make his long-awaited switch to St James’ Park.
After all, Newcastle have lost Salomon Rondon, who returned to West Brom at the end of his loan spell. That has opened the door for a new centre-forward and Dost could match Rondon’s poacher’s instinct and presence in the final third.
And he would be cheaper, too, at a bargain £10 million.
