Mbwana Samatta’s Champions League displays have reportedly caught the eye of Premier League duo West Ham and Newcastle United.

Genk striker Mbwana Samatta could be on his way to the Premier League in January with the BBC claiming that Newcastle United and West Ham are considering whether or not to trigger his affordable £10 million release clause.
With Sebastian Haller scoring just once in his last eight Hammers games while £40 million Joelinton toils at the front of Newcastle’s attack, it is no real surprise that Manuel Pellegrini and Steve Bruce are keen to add some extra quality to their attack in the winter.
And Samatta has been one of the most impressive goalscorers in Europe since the start of last season. The Tanzania international netted 32 times in all competitions in 2018/19 as Genk won the Belgian top flight and his barnstorming performances in the Champions League have shown that Samatta can make an impact against top opposition too.
The 26-year-old ran Liverpool’s defence ragged in the group stage and scored a bullet header at Anfield on Tuesday, two weeks after he had a similarly brilliant effort ruled out against Jurgen Klopp’s side by the harshest of offside calls.

With a release clause of just £10 million in his contract, Samatta certainly looks worth a punt with the BBC claiming that he has admirers at both Newcastle and West Ham.
This is not the first time Samatta has been linked with a move to England. The Sun claimed that Aston Villa, Leicester City, Watford, Brighton and Burnley all wanted the 51-time international over the summer and it would be a surprise if Newcastle and West Ham are the only clubs in the race heading into January.
