Diego Laxalt is stuck at Serie A outfit AC Milan after failing to seal a Premier League move with Newcastle United or West Ham United.

Newcastle United and West Ham United tried and failed to sign AC Milan bench-warmer Diego Laxalt in the final few days of the transfer window, according to Calciomercato.
This is a name fans of the Magpies and the Hammers will be more than familiar with. The Uruguayan international has been linked with a move to Newcastle or West Ham for the best part of two years now and claims from Italy suggest that he was still a target as recently as a couple of days ago.
Both Premier League clubs apparently made a move to lure Laxalt away from the San Siro. But, according to Calciomercato, any potential deal quickly looked impossible as Milan could not agree on a fee or, for that matter, a method of how the money would be paid.
That leaves Laxalt on the outside looking. He made just six Serie A starts for Milan last season and that was before the Rossoneri paid big to sign Theo Hernandez from Real Madrid.

So what now for the braided battler? Well, if he fancies a move to Russia, there is still a chance that he could escape his Milan nightmare before the end of August. Zenit St Petersburg are apparently keen.
But will Newcastle and West Ham be mourning their failure to get a deal done? Probably not. The Magpies signed Jetro Willems from Frankfurt instead while the Hammers can still call upon Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku.
