Real Sociedad’s La Liga defender Llorente has reportedly caught the eye of Premier League trio Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool

Spain offered a glimpse into their next generation in the 1-0 friendly win with a number of fringe players given the chance to impress by manager Luis Enrique.

And while Celta Vigo midfielder Brais Mendez stole the headlines by scoring the only goal of the game on his international debut, centre-back Diego Llorente is the name on the lips of scouts throughout England it seems.

According to Cadena Ser, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are all interested in the promising Real Sociedad centre-back.

Liverpool appear to be particularly keen with the report claiming that they sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old in action during La Real’s 3-1 away win at Levante before the international break.

It is no secret, meanwhile, that Spurs are also scouring the market for a new centre-back with doubts surrounding the future of both Toby Alderwiereld and Jan Vertonghen.

Newcastle’s interest raises plenty of questions, meanwhile, especially given that Llorente has a hefty £26 million release clause in his contract. Under Mike Ashley, it would be a major shock if The Magpies were to pay such a fee for one player given that it is 13 years since they last broke their transfer record.

The Chronicle adds that Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is indeed a fan of the goalscoring defender, who netted seven times in all competitions last season. But a centre-back is not a priority right now with Benitez hoping to buy a striker and a left-back first.
